Etsy vs. Website

vs.

Ok, I'm finally getting around to blogging this. The past week has been a whirlwind of events. It's really hard to think that a little over a week ago, we were launching our brand new website. And what a launch it was! Within the first 3.5 days, we had almost 10,000 hits. Yes, my friends, we're pretty happy about that. It's such a blessing! For those readers and followers that are new to the world of Dainty Button and are curious as to where we were before our website launch, you should be very well informed by the time you read this post. We've had an etsy shop Dainty Button Etsy Shop for over two years. We've had nothing but success on etsy and hope to continue to do so. So, why did we launch a website if etsy has been so successful? We're expanding and a lot of customers enjoy a website purchasing experience more than etsy.

So, what's so different about etsy than a website?

1. Etsy is a marketplace for all things vintage and handmade.
2. Requires a profile in order to purchase/sell.
3. You can leave/receive feedback.
4. You find very unique, one of a kind items you may not find on other websites.

A website offers...

1. Convenient transaction process
2. Easy access for clientele.
3. No required profile or sign in.
4. User friendly options such as drop down boxes for sizes, colors, etc., and other payment options besides PayPal with one click of a button.
5. Quantity is unlimited as long as it's in stock.
6. One stop shop as you can easily click on different sections of the shop, a link to our blog, our commercial photo shoot gallery, size chart, policies and "about us".

What's the similarities?

It all comes down to which you prefer as your shopping experience. We carry the same product on each site, except for shoes and blouses. Etsy does not allow us to carry any items that are not handmade (something to think about if you're considering opening up an etsy shop), therefore you'll find these particular items on our website daintybutton.com. Our prices, shipping and policies are the same on both sites. They mirror one another. Some clientele enjoy the etsy experience and some prefer the convenience of a website. Our goal is to direct our clientele to our website but our etsy shop will be open indefinitely and you can find our merchandise and product in both places. We will offer different sales on both sites in the future, so that's something you might want to keep an eye on.

If you've been thinking about opening an etsy shop or website, here is a link that might help you http://howtosellhandmadecrafts.com/etsy-vs-your-own-personal-website/. This might also allow you to understand the process behind purchasing from an etsy shop or website.

We hope this has been informative for you and answered any questions you might have about either site. Stop by and visit us at either place. We're sort of in a bicoastal cyber world and love guests in both homes.
